Makeup and Hair and Nails, Oh My!

Friday, October 1, 2010
Hello lovely ladies!

I hope everyone is having a fantastic Friday! This post is going to be about the haul I mentioned in one of my previous posts and a couple things I bought from the MAC Venomous Villains collection.

1.  L'Oreal HIP Studio Secrets Color Crystal Eyeliner in Silver Sparkle.  I've used the regular L'Oreal HIP eyeliners before, but never one of their Color Crystal ones.  This liner looks like it'll be great for adding some "sparkle" to a look, especially one for going out in the evening!

2.  MAC Leopard Luxe Quad from the Fabulous Felines collection.  I stopped by my MAC counter last week and picked up this awesome quad.  It has the perfect colors for a neutral look and a smokey eye.  I'll post a swatch of the shadows soon!

3.  Revlon PhotoReady Foundation in Caramel.  I don't wear foundation on a daily basis, but I usually do when I go out for events, clubs, etc.  I've used Revlon Colorstay foundation for the past year and I finally ran low on it.  I've read so many mixed reviews on the PhotoReady, so I figured I'd try it out for myself.  I did a quick test on my hand and so far, I haven't seen any of the "shimmer" that others have had.  I can't wait to try it since many of you have said that it's a good dupe for the Makeup Forever HD Foundation!

4.  Revlon ColorStay Soft & Smooth Lipstick in Mocha Silk.  I've always been picky about lip products, so recently I decided to "open up" and try some new lipsticks/glosses/etc.  I ended up picking this one since it seemed like a safe, neutral choice lol.

5.  Revlon ColorStay Overtime Lipgloss in Perpetual Pink.  See, I kinda chose a not safe color? haha I NEVER wear pinks on my lip!

6.  Revlon ColorStay Overtime Lipgloss in Timeless Nude.  A safe choice! =)

7.  StudioTools Eye Contour Brush.  This is my ABSOLUTE FAVORITE brush!  I have one already that I use for crease colors and I picked this one up since I've seen other beauty bloggers use similar brushes for concealer.  I'm hoping it works with my MAC Studio Finish concealer.  If not, I can always use a second crease color brush!

8.  MAC Bite of An Apple blush from the Venomous Villains collection.  OH MY GOSH.  I was super excited for this collection to come out because I grew up watching Disney movies (practically everyday haha)!!  I went to my MAC counter yesterday to check it out and ended up picking this blush up as soon as I saw it!  Its an insanely vibrant coral blush with a matte finish.  In case you're wondering, it's from the Evil Queen portion of the collection.

9.  MAC Vainglorious eye shadow from the Venomous Villains collection.  I wasn't planning on getting any eye shadows from this collection since they all looked like shadows I already owned, but this little gem caught my eye!  I don't usually wear cranberry/burgundy colors, so I'm excited to try something new with this shadow.  I think Vainglorious paired with MACs Woodwinked shadow would work really well!  Vainglorious also kinda reminds me of Urban Decay's eye shadow called Roach!  It has a really similar burgundy coloring.

10.  Maybelline Mineral Power Blush in Soft Mauve.  This is the first loose powder blush I've bought, so it'll be interesting to see how it applies and looks with my skin tone.  I usually don't like having to hassle with pigments/powders so I'm hoping that using this blush will be simple haha

11.  NYX Liner in Gold.  My reasoning for buying this liner was that I needed a gold "partner" for my L'Oreal Silver Sparkle liner lol.  I was looking around at my local beauty store for NYX products and saw this liner and figured it would be nice to try out.

12.  Wet n Wild Coloricon Eyeliner in Black Black.  Everyone needs a black liner and I bought this as a backup to keep in my purse/wristlet. =)

I just realized I left out the Color Club nail polishes I bought.  poop.  I'll post them in another post with swatches =)

I'm so excited for the weekend!  I was in a co-ed Fraternity when I was in college and tonight is the first major event of the semester and I'm super excited to go back as an alumnus and see all my friends!  Tomorrow is my college's homecoming game so I'm stoked for some tailgating and football as well!  I'll try to post some swatches tomorrow, but depending on the game, I may have to leave it til Sunday.  Anyway, I hope everyone has a fantastic weekend!  (So sorry for the crazy long post!) and let me know if you have any questions about the products I mentioned! =)

xoxo,

Puja

Hello lovelies!

ahhh I know it's been a few days since I last posted, but I was caught up in some family stuff, so I didn't get a chance to take pictures of any of my new goodies!  I did swatch the NYX Pearl Mania pigments though.

I was SOOOO impressed by these pigments.  I don't own any MAC pigments, but I have swatched them at the counters and these NYX pigments are fantastic dupes for them!  The NYX pigments are very fine, so they apply very smoothly onto the eye.  For just a small fraction of the MAC pigment prices, these Pearl Mania pigments are a steal!

The best thing about these particular shades is that they can be used for neutral looks (for work, school, etc) and for more dramatic looks, such as a smokey eye.  Another thing I noticed when I used the pigments is that there was almost no fallout onto my cheeks!  I didn't have to reapply concealer/foundation to cover up the fallout at all.

There's only one down side to these NYX pigments.  I don't really use pigments in general because they're a little more difficult to apply than regular shadows.  What's worse about the NYX pigments is that the opening for the bottle is so narrow that it's nearly impossible to get your brush into the bottle.  I would suggest buying some small empty jars from Walmart or Michaels to refill the pigments in.  Other than that, the product is fantastic.

Overall Rating:  4/5
Price:  5/5
Packaging Quality:  2/5
Would you buy this product again?  YES!

Hello everyone!

Today I am posting a NOTD!  It's a fuschia berry color and is a fantastic color for the summer-fall transition.

I used the Revlon Colorstay Sealing Shine Finish as a Top Coat.

I wasn't a huge fan of the formula for some reason, but the color itself is so gorgeous!  The swatch with flash is most true to the color.

I spent most of my day running errands and then went to the mall to just browse.  I ended up picking up a quad from MAC and some Revlon lip products.  I'll post a pic of the goodies soon!  I am SUPER excited for the Venomous Villains Collection from MAC!  Are you eying anything from that collection?  Let me know!

Hello everyone!

A few of my girls and I visited a friend in Philadelphia last weekend, and I thought I should post about my trip, even though it is a beauty blog.  We had a blast walking through the City of Brotherly Love!  The last time I went to Philly was in High School, so it was awesome seeing how the city had changed.  We started off the day by going to the Game Pieces in front of City Hall:

There were giant Sorry, Monopoly, Dominoes, Checkers, and Chess pieces!  It reminded me of all the board games my friends and I played as kids =)

We also saw some of the fountains in the area, but sadly I wasn't able to get any good pics of them =/ We then went to Max Brenner's Restaurant, which was HEAVEN!  It is a must for anyone that loves chocolate!  They had the most amazing chocolate desserts!

I ordered a "Max-Wich", which was a humongous ice cream sandwich and it was delicious!

We also wanted to go to see the Liberty Bell, but when we got there, it was closed.  But, because it was 9/11, the governor of PA gave a speech in front of the Liberty Bell building, which was pretty cool!

After watching Governor Ed Rendell's speech, we went to Washington Square and sat near the fountain there.  It was so peaceful and calming:
I'm the one all the way on the left end! =)

We then went to have some drinks at Raw, a Sushi & Sake Lounge, and dinner at El Vez, an amazing Mexican Restaurant!

We waited for almost 2 hours just to be seated at El Vez!!  We ended the night at Dave & Busters outdoor bar near Penns Landing.  There was such a beautiful view of the Ben Franklin Bridge:

It was such a fun trip and I can't wait to go back there again!  =)

I'll be posting some nail polish swatches and reviews this week, so be on the lookout for those!  I'm gonna get back to watching some football!  Go Giants! hehe

xoxo,

Puja

Hello lovelies!

So sorry for not posting this earlier, but I just haven't gotten a chance to edit the pics and stuff until now.  This post will show my goodies from Woodbury Commons and from some local stores.

1.  Rimmel Fix & Perfect Face Primer:  I've never used a face primer and this one was one sale at Walgreens so I decided to try it!  I'll post a comparison of Fix & Perfect with the L'Oreal primer from my last haul when I've used both products for a week or two

2.  MAC Light Over Dark:  I bought this at the CCO at Woodbury Commons for around $15.  It is a limited edition Mineralize Blush from the Grand Duos Collection (old I know!! lol)  There wasn't much selection left since I went on the last day of the Labor Day sale, but I didn't want to leave empty handed haha  It has 2 shades, the top one, which is more of a highlight color and the second which is a bronzer.

3.  MAC Earth to Earth:  It's also a Mineralize Blush the Grand Duos Collection and was LE.  It was around the same price as Light Over Dark.  There are two shades:  the bottom one, which is a bronzer (i have a feeling its the same shade as the bronzer in Light Over Dark) and a golden-purpley blush.  The blush is mostly a pinkish golden color with purple veining.

4.  MAC Warming Trend Eyeshadow:  This was the last thing I got from the CCO.  I don't own many MAC products, but as soon as I left the store, I realized it looked similar to a MAC shadow I already had, Woodwinked.  I compared them when I got home and they do look similar.  I'll post a comparison swatch in an upcoming post.

5.  OPI Ate Berries in the Canaries:  Recently I've really gotten into nail polishes and I had been eyeing this color for a while.  It's such a pretty berry color and it's perfect for the summer/fall transition!  In case you're wondering, it's from the Fall 2009 Spain Collection

6.  OPI Can You Tapas This:  This is also a shade from the Spain collection.  I got this shade more for my sister than I did for myself.  She loves these dark browney-purple wine colors.

7.  NYX Ultra Pearl Mania Pigment in Oro Pearl

8.  NYX Ultra Pearl Mania Pigment in Walnut Pearl

9.  NYX Ultra Pearl Mania Pigment in Mocha Pearl

10.  NYX Ultra Pearl Mania Pigment in Nude Pearl

I had been looking for the Ultra Pearl pigments for a while now, and I finally found them at small beauty shop in my mall.  I'm excited to try them out since people say they're good dupes for the MAC pigments.

I also bought a new dress from Ann Taylor Loft and it was a STEAL!  They're having a great sale right now, where you get an additional 25% off of already reduced/sale prices.  I'll post a pic of the dress soon!  This past Saturday, I visited a friend of mine in Philadelphia, so I'll post some of those pics too!

Anyway, I hope you enjoyed this post!

Puja

Hello everyone!

I hope everyone had a fantastic Labor Day Weekend!  I was in Westchester, New York for work Saturday to Monday morning, and I felt sick on Tuesday, so I didn't get a chance to post til now.  On my way back home on Monday, I stopped to shop at the Woodbury Common Premium Outlets in Central Valley, NY, so I didn't get home until late in the evening.  I got a few goodies for myself, which I'll  show in another blog post.  Although I was working this weekend, I still had some fun!  I work part time as an event coordinator, and this weekend, our team planned and coordinated a wedding at the Trump National Golf Course in Westchester.  The weather was beautiful, but sadly I didn't get any pictures of the wedding.

Anyway, on to the subject of this post, the Kings & Queens Aztec King Vanilla Pear Body Scrub:

I bought the scrub from Marshalls for only $5.  I stop by my local Marshalls at least once a week and I'd seen this scrub on the shelves for a few weeks now, so I decided to try it out.  My overall opinion is that it's a decent body WASH, not scrub.  When I think of a scrub, I assume that it'll have the little gritty beads in it to help exfoliate.  This scrub barely had any at all, they were pretty much nonexistent!  However, the product is a good body wash.  It has a nice light, sweet scent (vanilla pear) and lathers the perfect amount.  It also looks pretty cool:

It's super shimmery, but it doesn't make your skin look shimmery at all.  One thing I did notice though is that it has the funkiest texture.  The best words I can think of to describe it are "gack" and "goop" haha

Overall, I think it's pretty good bang for your buck, and I would repurchase it.  Also, the packaging is adorable.  The back of the tube gives an explanation for the vanilla scent:

It says:
"In pre Colombian Mexico vanilla was considered a potent aphrodisiac, which is why the Aztec kings and their many wives consumed countless cups of vanilla drinks every day...All the Kings & Queens products are enriched with Pomegranate, Blue Egyptian Lotus and Malachite extracts to maximize your enjoyment"

If you want more info, the website for the company is:  www.forkingsandqueens.com

Let me know what your opinions on the product are or if you have any suggestions for body scrubs!

xoxo,

Puja

Hello lovelies,

I'm sorry for not posting the past couple days, but I ended up getting a cold (even though it was 100+ degrees outside!) and I'm finally feeling better.  I've been using the products I got from the haul in my previous post, so expect some reviews in the next week or two.  Today, I'm posting a swatch of OPI Chop-Sticking to My Story.  It's a gorgeous orange color and in my opinion, perfect for fall!  The pictures aren't the best, but I'm working on finding a good place for taking swatch photos.  Also, the pictures were taken after I did the dishes a few times, sorry! =/  However, the color is true to how it looks in the bottle.  I also used Revlon ColorStay Sealing Shine as a top coat.

I'm going to Westchester, NY this weekend for work (I work part time for an Event Management company), so I'm going to try to stop at the CCO at Woodbury Common Outlets before I head back.  It'll be my first CCO "experience" so I'm super excited!

Anyway, hope everyone has a fantastic weekend! =)

XOXO
